Amy Winehouse 23/7/11

Although it was perhaps inevitable for Amy Winehouse to die prematurely, it is still sad how someone so talented could throw their lives away due to drugs. It is such a shame that raw talent like hers gets largely overlooked due to her drug and alcohol abuse, someone who has largely been a fashion icon of the 21st century. From her outrageous beehives to her pin-up girl style, Amy influenced many in the fashion industry including the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, who called her his 'muse', Jonathan Kelsey and also a collection in her name at Fred Perry. Her unique style and image reinvented the polo shirt and heavy eyeliner, big hair and revolutionary woman way of dressing. Amy Winehouse was both a mess and a style icon, I hope that one day she is remembered for her talent rather than her notorious lifestyle. RIP x

Some of my fabulous friends......

I went out on saturday for the first time since before Glastonbury and had a fab night with some of my gorgeous friends who deserve a blog mention! It was my friend Megan's birthday (below in the middle) and she is beautiful and should be a model! Happy birthday Meg xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Givenchy Couture

I have been neglecting my blog for the past few mad busy weeks but I have finally finished sixth form for summer! So happy to see my latest Textiles project handed in and sorted at last. I started my work placement at the Walker Art Gallery conservation centre today, which I have been excited about for months. I love everything about art, especially in grand galleries like the Walker that are an experience in themselves to visit. I started today by working with the Costume Curator, helping to select period evening dresses from 1900 - 2000 and I was in my idea of heaven. Chests full of beautiful dresses to choose from! I loved all of the dresses and could have happily spent all day sifting through them, but I was obsessed with the pieces featuring delicate beading, embroidery and tassels, also featuring in Givenchy Couture AW 11/12, which I think I have fallen in love with! Tomorrow I am helping to dress the mannequins, bring on vintage Versache and Chanel!

Queen Kate

I forgot how much I love Kate until I saw her Galliano gown for her wedding to Jamie Hince. In true La Moss style, Kate reportedly hosted a festival-themed wedding at her home, including several outfit changes through the night - 3 of the looks by Stella McCartney. Can't wait to see all of the pictures!

Glastonbury

I have finally recovered(ish) from the chaos that was Glastonbury 2011 - still cannot get over the mud or seeing Alexa in real life. My fabulous Aubergine Hunters stayed a delightful shade of brown from the moment I stepped off the coach and my clothes got wrecked....but it was amazing.
